Dr. Meryem Eken is an obstetrician-gynecologist and IVF specialist. She earned her M.D. and completed her residency at Istanbul University. She completed IVF clinical training at Zeynep Kamil in 2017. She led the IVF Unit at Hisar Intercontinental Hospital from 2020 to 2025. Since January 1993, Dr. Totaro holds the role of the Coordinator of the MAP (Medically Assisted Procreation) Center and of the Obstetrics-Gynecological Ultrasound Center at the Ospedale Santa Maria at the Maternal and Child Department. Under his supervision the Center, one of the leading MAR centers in Italy, performs more than 1,000 procedures a year. Ospedale Santa Maria - is in first position, for number of cycles of IUI, intrauterine insemination (586) - level I technique, while for the number of oocyte thawing procedures - level II and III technique - the hospital of Santa Maria from Bari occupies the 4th place in the national ranking.

In 1986 Dr. Totaro graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Bari, Italy with full marks, where 4 years later he specialized in Gynecology and Obstetrics. I graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Medicine, in 1984. After compulsory service, I traveled abroad (UK, Saudi Arabia, Greece and Russia) for a many years to study and work in the fields of gynecology and infertility. In 1997, I received my specialist training from Kartal Training and Research Hospital. Following my training, I worked at Kartal SSK hospital. In 2001, I went to Tel Aviv University in Israel and received training In Vitro Fertilization and reproductive endocrinology. After returning to Turkey, I opened my own in vitro fertilization center ( IVF Center). Following the closure of the hospital in which my IVF center was located due to economic reasons, I started practicing private medicine. A while after that, I started working as the manager of The Gynecological Oncology and IVF Center in Bodrum Acibadem Hospital. Then, I returned to Istanbul, and continued my work in private hospitals as a specialist in gynecological oncology and IVF.
Throughout my long years of experience I did over 15.000 IVF trails.
