Thanks to the professor and his team, the department has been modernised by introducing modern surgical methods of treatment and especially improved methods of post-operative recovery. The Department of Surgery at the Solingen Clinic is now further expanding its focus on minimally invasive surgery in the direction of robotics. The clinic has allocated a huge budget for the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment in order to offer patients a full range of surgical methods for the treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the oesophagus, lungs, stomach, liver, pancreas and intestines according to current guidelines and using the most modern technical equipment.

Professor Schenker is an active researcher and lecturer. He lectures at medical universities and organises seminars and workshops for colleagues. He cooperates closely with the Cancer Centre, the Pancreatic Cancer Treatment Centre, the Intestinal Cancer Treatment Centre and the Interregional Trauma Centre.

Under his leadership, the hospital is actively expanding its services, including paediatric cardiology and intensive care, and is planning to establish an interdisciplinary center for parents and children on the basis of the Department of Paediatrics.

Dr. Cheon Won Seok is the Director of the Department of Gastroenterology at Naeun Hospital. Dr. Ercan Ozden is a specialist in internal medicine and medical oncology. He earned his medical degree and completed his residency at Istanbul University, Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine. He later received a subspecialty in medical oncology at Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine from 2016 to 2020.

Dr. Ozden has worked in medical oncology at Şırnak State Hospital. He has also served as an internal medicine specialist at Bağcılar Private Safa Hospital and Küçükçekmece Batı Bahat Hospital. He has extensive clinical experience in both internal medicine and oncology.

Assoc. Prof. Atakan Topçu, M.D., is a medical oncologist at Medipol University and Medipol Acıbadem Regional Hospital. He treats solid tumors, including lung, breast, colorectal, gastric, and neuroendocrine cancers. His work also covers targeted therapies, immunotherapy, geriatric oncology, and cancer-related malnutrition, cachexia, and sarcopenia.

He has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed papers. Recent work includes a 2024 Frontiers in Medicine study on geriatric syndromes and a 2023 Future Oncology paper on sarcopenia and anxiety in lung cancer. He has also published on the CONUT score in breast cancer and on malnutrition in HER2-negative metastatic gastric cancer.

Dr. Topçu serves on the Editorial Board of BMC Cancer. He is a member of the Turkish Society of Medical Oncology, ESMO, and the Turkish Geriatrics Society. Prof. Selin Kapan has been a Professor of General Surgery since 2017. She is currently with Istanbul Aydın University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of General Surgery (2022–present). She previously worked at Bakırköy Dr. Sadi Konuk Training and Research Hospital as a Specialist and Associate Professor. She also served as Educational and Administrative Supervisor at Kanuni Sultan Süleyman Training and Research Hospital. In addition, she was Medical Coordinator and General Surgeon at Istanbul Surgery Hospital.

She has authored or co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed papers. Her research covers hernia repair, perianal fistula, pilonidal disease, hepatic hydatid disease, laparoscopic surgery, and gastrointestinal surgery. Her work has been published in journals such as Digestive Surgery, Hernia, Techniques in Coloproctology, and the Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery. Dr. Baha Zengel is a general surgeon with expertise in breast, gallbladder, thyroid diseases, and hernia repairs. He graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 1990. In 2004, he earned a doctorate in Basic Oncology from Dokuz Eylül University. He became an Associate Professor of General Surgery in 2014 through the Inter-University Board.

Dr. Zengel is skilled in advanced surgical procedures. His experience includes skin and breast-conserving mastectomy, oncoplastic breast surgery, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, sentinel lymph node biopsy, and ROLL/SNOLL techniques.
