The founder of Smile Academy is Specialist Dr. Yaprak Kalkan, born in 1988 in İstanbul. She completed her education at Kadıköy Anatolian High School in 2006 and Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry in 2011. During her PhD studies in the Department of Periodontology at Turku University in Finland, she conducted experiments on diabetic patients.

Driven by her desire to take her profession to new heights, she established Smile Academy. Dr. Kalkan has numerous national and international scientific publications and papers. She has also held management positions in prominent professional organizations such as the 101st FDI World Dental Congress. In 2019, she served as the Deputy Secretary General of the 25th International TDB Congress. Furthermore, Dr. Kalkan has been actively involved in the Istanbul Chamber of Dentists, contributing as a member of the Community Oral and Dental Health Commission, Young Dentists Commission, and Turkish Dental Association General Assembly Delegate.
