Dr. Gian Carlo Mattiucci is the Director of the Radiation Oncology Unit. He is an expert in advanced radiation therapies, such as Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy, Stereotactic Radiation Therapy, Adaptive Radiation Therapy, and Brachytherapy. He focuses on treatment for upper gastrointestinal, prostate, and lung cancers. Dr. Mattiucci uses advanced imaging and works closely with other specialists to improve patient care.
He earned his medical degree from Università La Sapienza and completed his specialization in Radiation Oncology at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Rome. Dr. Mattiucci is an Assistant Professor at Università Cattolica. He also teaches in the ESTRO “Evidence Based Radiation Oncology” course and supports education and clinical progress in his field.

The main field of interest are the application of high technologies in Radiation Oncology as Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy, Stereotactic Radiation Therapy (cranial and extracranial), Adaptative Radiation Therapy and Brachitherapy.
Furthermore he focused his activity on the optimization of radiation treatments by using different imaging techniques for the definition of target volume delineation; integration between radiotherapy and surgery; integration between radiotherapy and chemotherapy. He applied the acquired knowledge especially in Upper Gastro-intestinal, Prostate and Lung cancers.
Teaching activity: Assistant Professor in Radiation Oncology for Medical School, Radiation Oncology Resident Program and Diagnostic and Therapy Radiography University Degree at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Rome, Italy (2005- present).
