Graduated from the Medical Faculty of the Autonomous University of Guadalajara (UAG) in General Surgery. Dr. Avila was given the honors of the best student for 7th and 8th semester. 1979 (3.9 GPA throughout his entire degree ).
Received his degree in the Specialty of Urology from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). 1991
