Koray Acarli

Prof. Koray Acarli is a specialist in general and hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) surgery. He formerly led the Liver Transplant Center at Istanbul University. Dr. Acarli currently treats liver and pancreatic diseases at Liv Hospital Ulus.

Advanced Liver and Pancreatic Care

Dr. Acarli treats benign and malignant diseases of the digestive system. He focuses on tumors of the liver, bile ducts, and pancreas. The doctor treats metastatic tumors and gallbladder cancer. He also treats metabolic conditions like pancreatitis.

The specialist provides surgical solutions for obstructive diseases. This includes treating biliary strictures and biliary or pancreatic stones. He treats conditions like cholangiocarcinoma—a cancer that forms in the bile ducts. He also treats Klatskin tumors, which are bile duct cancers located where the right and left hepatic ducts join.

Dr. Acarli has held several leadership roles throughout his career. He served as the Head of the Liver Transplant Center at Istanbul University. Later, he directed the Organ Transplant Center at Memorial Şişli Hospital for over a decade. He currently coordinates surgical treatments at Liv Hospital Ulus.

Surgical Education and International Training

Dr. Acarli completed his medical education and surgical residency in Istanbul. He pursued international research to study transplantation techniques. This work included a fellowship in the United States and a visiting role in Germany. He also attended St. George Austrian High School for Boys before his medical studies.
