Stephan Willems

Stefan Willems is the head of the cardiology department at the Asklepios St. Georg Clinic. The professor specializes in the treatment of diseases of the coronary arteries, heart valves and heart muscle. Professor Dr. med. Stefan Willems is a renowned specialist in the field of electrophysiology. He is an internationally recognized specialist in diseases of the coronary arteries, heart valves and heart muscle, and especially in the treatment of all types of cardiac arrhythmias. In April 2019, the German Basic Society for the Study of Cardiac Arrhythmias "Kompetenznetz Vorhofflimmern e.V." elected Professor Willems as Chairman of the Executive Board.

Professor Willems is a member of numerous professional societies, including the Program Committee of the German Society of Cardiology and the author of many international studies.

Dr. Willems is the co-author of the physician's guide, "EKG: Pocket Guide," which was published in 2009.

• 1991-1994 - Lecturer in the Department of Cardiology and Angiology at the Westphalian Wilhelms University, Münster, Germany;
• 1995 - specialist in the cardiology department, 2008-2019 - head of the electrophysiology department at the University Hospital Eppendorf, Hamburg;
• 1999 - Senior physician in the laboratory of electrophysiology and interventional cardiology;
• Since 2019 - Head of the Cardiology Department at the Asklepios Clinic St. Georg, Hamburg.

Education

Stefan Willems received his medical education at the Universities of Freiburg and Munich.

Since 2004 he has held the academic title of professor.
