1970s – Completed medical and dental studies at the University of Vienna.
1980s – Specialized in oral and maxillofacial surgery, focusing on reconstructive and orthognathic procedures.
1990s – Became Head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Vienna General Hospital (AKH), where he established an international training and research center for facial reconstruction.
2000s – Introduced advanced methods for mandibular osteotomy, jaw implants, temporomandibular joint reconstruction, and microvascular tissue transfer.
2010s – Continued to advance nerve repair and craniofacial surgery, mentoring generations of surgeons and publishing extensively in the field.
Today – Serves as a senior consultant and reconstructive surgeon at Wiener Privatklinik, performing complex jaw, facial, and nerve surgeries and contributing to medical education worldwide.
Prof. Millesi is credited with developing several innovative microsurgical techniques, particularly in facial nerve repair and mandibular reconstruction, which have significantly improved patient recovery and function. He has been honored with multiple international awards for his contributions to cranio-maxillofacial surgery and remains active in academic teaching and surgical education.
