Iltae Jang

Dr. Iltae Jang is a neurosurgeon specializing in spine disorder treatment. Major South Korean newspapers, including Dong-A Ilbo and Kyunghyang Shinmun, have recognized his work in this field. He founded the Nanoori Medical Foundation and serves as a professor at Korea University and Yonsei University. Dr. Jang pioneered bone cement treatment and one-day cervical disc surgery in South Korea.

Specialization and Surgical Expertise

Dr. Jang specializes in microscopic spinal surgery and treats spinal tumors and scoliosis. He performs mini spinal fusion and artificial disc replacement. Additionally, he uses non-surgical exercise therapy for various cervical spine diseases. Between 1993 and 2004, he performed over 8,000 spine surgeries.

Dr. Jang introduced bone cement treatment to South Korean patients in 1997. This technique helps stabilize vertebral fractures caused by osteoporosis. He also established the first one-day cervical disc surgery protocol in the country. This protocol allows patients to undergo surgical treatment with a shorter recovery time.

Dr. Jang holds an ECFMG certificate — a certification that allows foreign medical graduates to practice in the United States.

Dr. Jang has published over 15 papers in international medical journals. His research appears in Spine Journal, World Neurosurgery, and the Journal of Neurosurgical Spine. He investigates risk factors for vertebral fractures and outcomes of endoscopic discectomy. His 2016 work analyzed structural preservation during percutaneous lumbar procedures.
