Who are the top-rated follicular lymphoma doctors in Turkey?

Top follicular lymphoma specialists in Turkey include Prof. Zafer Gulbas and Prof. Burhan Ferhanoglu. These doctors hold international credentials and specialize in oncohematology, which focuses on blood cancers. They use advanced protocols from ESMO and NCCN to create precise treatment plans for patients.

  • Extensive experience. Prof. Zafer Gulbas at Anadolu Medical Center has 45+ years of clinical expertise.
  • Academic leadership. Prof. Burhan Ferhanoglu at Koc University Hospital leads research in the Turkish Society of Hematology.
  • Mayo Clinic training. Dr. Omur Gokmen Sevindik at Istanbul Florence Nightingale Hospital received specialized American training.
  • Transplant expertise. Prof. Sebnem Izmir Guner at Memorial Sisli has established multiple bone marrow transplant centers.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Patients often choose Prof. Zafer Gulbas at Anadolu because of the clinic's partnership with Johns Hopkins. This collaboration means your follicular lymphoma treatment follows the same strict standards used in the USA. This is vital because consistent protocols often lead to more predictable results in complex blood cancers.

Patient Consensus: Patients often mention how comfortable the HEPA-filtered recovery rooms are at hospitals like Hisar. They felt relieved when doctors explained PET-CT results in simple terms, making the diagnosis less scary.

What are the international credentials of Turkish hematologists?

Turkish hematologists specializing in follicular lymphoma hold European Hematology Association (EHA) certifications. They align their training with the EHA Curriculum to meet high European medical standards. Many specialists also maintain memberships in the American Society of Hematology (ASH).

  • International fellowships. Doctors train at hospitals like Harvard or King's College London for advanced knowledge.
  • European certification. Many pass the European Hematology Exam, which is a recognized quality stamp.

  • Global memberships. Leading doctors join the International Society of Hematology (ISH) to follow global protocols.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Specialists at Anadolu Medical Center and Memorial Sisli often hold double board certifications. This means they are qualified in both internal medicine and hematology-oncology. This dual expertise allows them to manage both the lymphoma and any treatment side effects.

Patient Consensus: Patients are often surprised that doctors speak English fluently and explain complex lymph node treatments. They mentioned feeling calm because the medical teams coordinate everything from blood tests to chemotherapy rounds.

Do Turkish doctors offer online consultations for follicular lymphoma?

Turkish hematologists offer online consultations for follicular lymphoma to review your pathology and lab results. Specialists like Dr. Zafer Gulbas at Anadolu Medical Center use these sessions to confirm your subtype. This helps you avoid travel before your treatment plan is ready for this slow-growing cancer.

  • Specialist access. You can speak with Dr. Burhan Ferhanoglu, who has over 40 years of experience.
  • Remote document review. Doctors analyze PET-CT scans and biopsy reports before the video call starts.
  • Language support. Bookimed provides translators so you can discuss complex medical terms without any confusion.
  • Modern platforms. Sessions typically happen via secure video tools and last around 20 minutes for detail.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Lymphoma specialists in Turkey, such as those at Anadolu Medical Center, often follow MD Anderson protocols. This means you get US-standard care plans during your remote consultation for a much lower cost.

Patient Consensus: Patients were relieved that they could talk to senior doctors from home. They said clear explanations from the medical team made them feel much more confident about traveling.

What treatment approaches do Turkish doctors commonly use for follicular lymphoma?

Specialists like Dr. Leylagül Kaynar at Medipol University Hospital follow international protocols. They focus on personalized care, from active monitoring for slow-growing cases to CAR-T cell therapy for complex relapses.

  • Chemoimmunotherapy. Doctors often combine rituximab with drugs like bendamustine to shrink tumors effectively.
  • Bone marrow transplant. Multi-specialty teams perform autologous transplants for patients whose lymphoma has returned.
  • Targeted maintenance. Patients receive anti-CD20 antibodies every few months to help prevent the cancer from recurring.
  • Advanced cell therapy. Leading centers use CAR-T cells to reprogram the immune system to fight cancer cells.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Lymphoma specialists in Turkey often hold European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) certifications. Dr. Zafer Gulbas at Anadolu Medical Center works with Johns Hopkins Medicine standards. This partnership ensures patients receive research-backed protocols without traveling to the United States.
